About

Billions of words in existence, only one word inspired the birth of Cavepiece. DOGMA!

I'm Jide
I've always been fascinated by the idea of bringing meaningful things to life with my hands. Growing up, I'd always take my toys apart and put them back together. Then came Lego, as well as the freedom to truly create. I also remember building toy cars using a single motor, bottle caps, tiny bamboo sticks and 2 AA batteries (but I got stuck trying to get it to steer in different directions). This curiosity led me to get an Electrical Engineering degree.

The Cavepiece Story

Starting Cavepiece in my apartment, only over a year after moving to Canada, without prior design experience, was no easy feat. I had to start from scratch.

I started Cavepiece in my apartment, driven by the desire to leave the world a little better than I found it. As someone who is drawn to great design and interior design, I decided to make lamps. Thanks to 3D printed technology, I could start protoyping and testing out designs in no time. But I had no knowledge of 3D printing, neither did I know how to design 3D models, nor own a 3D printer. I had to start from scratch, so I took to YouTube and started learning 3D modelling and 3D printing. All these I did after my daily full-time job, sometimes staying up late and having only a few hours of sleep. A few months later, I came up with some designs (which all failed by the way). I scraped the designs, and came up with 3 new design. Thanks to you guys, these designs launched Cavepiece into a new era.

Cavepiece lamps are uniquely designed to be an intentional home décor piece. We believe that lamps should not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also functionally elevate your experience and the way you interact with your home, while being ethically made. Which is why we focus on a well curated collection, rather than a wide range of products.
In a nutshell, we're not designing lamps, we're crafting lighting experiences.

Our Philosophy

Cavepiece is dedicated to crafting unique, aesthetic and functional lighting experiences without compromising on ethics and environmental sustainability. My biggest motivation is to create a world I want to see or leave behind. And to inspire as many people as possible (including you) to do the same. You can be whoever or whatever you want to be, and you can bring ideas and products that people need to life with your mind and two hands. You can make a dent in the universe - if you can’t make a dent, make a crack, if you can’t make a crack, make a scratch.
I hold myself responsible for my philosophy by creating a world where people experience lighting uniquely in their homes through lamps that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also usher in a game-changing experience. I combine various materials, including PLA (Polylactic Acid) filaments derived from plants like sugarcane or cornstarch, with design principles and technologies to create these cool and stunning lamps.

The journey so far

My approach to design is that it should not stop at being aesthetically pleasing, great designs should also functionally elevate your daily experience, which is why I introduced a tactile switch that allows you to control your lamps with a touch.

But it doesn't end there. I take design, user experience, ease of use, and innovation a little too seriously - learn more here -, which is why I will be introducing more meaningful features and functionalities into my designs over time, to make them as autonomous as possible. I like to think of it as I'm making the Tesla of Lamps.

Right now, we craft lighting experiences—but this is only the beginning. As we grow, we’ll introduce more thoughtfully designed products to help improve your everyday life. Whatever we create, you can count on it being exceptional—because we pour our hearts into every detail.

I honestly can’t wait, so watch out!

Cheers.
